A Practice Built on Loyalty and Care

Setia Murni was founded with one purpose: to stand alongside Malaysian retirees and families as they navigate their most important financial entitlements — with patience, respect, and clear professional guidance.

Our Story

Where Setia Murni Began

Setia Murni was established in Kuala Lumpur by a small group of legal practitioners who had spent years watching clients arrive confused and worried about EPF statements they did not understand, pension claims that had been declined without explanation, and survivor entitlements that no one had prepared them to navigate.

The name reflects the practice's founding values: setia — faithful and loyal — and murni — genuine and pure in intention. Both words speak to the kind of relationship the team wanted to build with the people they serve: one grounded in trust, free from pressure, and marked by consistent follow-through.

The practice focuses exclusively on pension and EPF-related matters, which allows our advisors to maintain a depth of knowledge that broader practices simply cannot match. We have handled cases involving KWSP, armed forces pension schemes, civil service entitlements, and private-sector retirement arrangements.

Over the years, the team has grown steadily — attracting advisors who share the belief that retirement matters deserve careful, human attention rather than hurried, form-filling speed. Each new member joins because the work itself matters to them, not simply as a professional exercise.

Our office at Menara MBMR in Jalan Syed Putra serves clients from across the Klang Valley and beyond. Many come to us after a difficult experience with a declined claim or a confusing letter from a pension authority. Others arrive simply wanting to understand what they have saved and what they can expect. Both are equally welcome.

Our mission has not changed since the day we opened: to make retirement entitlements genuinely understandable and accessible for every Malaysian who walks through our door.

How We Work

Our Professional Standards

Bar Council Compliance

All legal work is carried out in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the Malaysian Bar. Our advisors maintain current practising certificates and complete their annual professional development requirements.

Personal Data Protection

We handle all client information in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). Documents are stored securely, and no information is shared without the client's explicit knowledge and consent.

Confidentiality Protocol

Legal professional privilege applies to all communications. We maintain a strict confidentiality protocol covering written, digital, and verbal exchanges — a standard we uphold without exception.

Transparent Fee Structure

Fees are discussed and agreed in writing before any work begins. There are no hidden charges or surprise additions. If a matter requires more work than initially scoped, we advise you in advance and seek your agreement.

Regular Client Updates

We keep clients informed at every stage of their matter. You will receive written updates when significant steps are taken, and our advisors are available for questions by phone or email throughout.

Dedicated Case Handling

Each client is assigned to a named advisor who remains responsible for the matter throughout its duration. We avoid the impersonal handoffs that can make legal processes feel confusing and disconnected.

Our Commitment

What Guides Every Engagement

Pension and EPF matters sit at the intersection of legal procedure and personal circumstance. A declined claim is not merely a paperwork problem — it affects a person's livelihood, their dignity in retirement, and in some cases, their family's financial stability after they are gone. We approach every file with that awareness.

Our practice is grounded in a belief that legal advice should be accessible and comprehensible. Clients should leave each consultation feeling more informed, not more confused. To that end, we make a point of explaining every step in plain language, avoiding unnecessary technical jargon, and checking that our explanations have actually landed before moving on.

We have particular experience with EPF (KWSP) withdrawal procedures under the various approved withdrawal categories — medical, housing, education, retirement, and incapacitation — as well as appeals against decisions that have been declined or deferred. We are equally familiar with the Pension Act 1980 as it applies to former civil servants and their nominees.

For families managing survivor entitlements, the process of locating, verifying, and claiming pension benefits after a loved one has passed can be a quiet and extended burden. Our Family Pension Stewardship service was designed specifically to ease that burden, bringing order to paperwork that might otherwise sit unresolved for months or years.
